Shahr-Chay Dam is located at Orumieh city in West Azarbaijan province in Iran.  This is located close to the border of Iran and Turkey. This is an earth fill dam and is built on Sahr Chay river.

The with problems associated with abrasive rock and shear zones creating drilling fluid outflow and huge volume of cement grout consumptions are two main challenges in this project.
