Tiltmeter is an electrical device which is mounted on structures to record the tilt of structures caused by adjacent excavations.  This device can be one or two directional.  This is a critical device of civil structures (specially tall ones) which are treated by adjacent excavations such as other buildings or underground tunnels.  The instrument has a high accuracy and endurance and return electrical signals which can be read from a far away distance.

The deice come in different range and accuracies but the most frequently used is a ±5 degree with 0.001 degree accuracy.
