Siah Bisheh Pumped Storage Plant

Siah Bisheh Pumped Storage Project is located North of Iran in the Alborz mountains.  Studies of construction of an underground pumped storage facility goes back to 2 decades ago.  The construction of the project restarted with a fast paste in 2003. 

To control the quality of the work and the sufficiency of the support system, several instruments have been designed for the powerhouse and transformer caverns and other access tunnels.  Borehole extensometers and load cells are among the most frequent instruments used in this project.  The followings are some samples of the readings from some of these instruments.  These results are used by the engineers to asses the performance of the excavations as it goes on.  The sensitivity and accuracy of the installed instruments and prompt response of the installation team has resulted in detecting the minute changes in rock mass response and to act accordingly.
