Pardis Tunnels

Instruments:  Convergence meter. load cell, pressure cell and extensometer.

Pardis highway which is under construction on the east part of Tehran city contains few tunnels and bridges.  In one part of this, a twin tunnel, each 1500 meters in length are under construction.  The rock mass is the Hezar Darreh alluvial (uncompacted young conglomerates) which can cause instability problems in case water can get to them.  The monitoring of this system of tunnels was given to Payab Zamzam Company.  Instruments such as extensometers, pressure and load cells as well as the convergency meters are used in this tunnel.

The local resident team of our engineers are required to provide continuous installation service 24 hours a day to inhibit any delays in the daily operations due to monitoring.  So far about 400 meters of each tunnels are excavated and monitored.  No important mode of instability is observed so far.  A couple of sample readings are depicted in the figures bellow.
