Hydraulic Pressure Cells are designed to measure the total pressure (effective stress and pore-water pressure) acting on a surface, such as rock-shotcrete or rock-concrete contact.  This can also be used for stress determination in the rockmass by simply embedding the instrument into a slot made in the rock mass.

Generally, pressure cells are used to monitor the soil or rock pressures to make sure they filled with cement not exceed  design values. It can be used to validate the assumptions made at the design stage and helps to modify those  assumptions if required.

Many different sizes and types of pressure cells are manufactured in our machine shop and they are all tested seriously for leakage.

Applications

Determining the magnitude, directions and distribution of total stresses in the rockmass or other interface.

Confirm uniform compaction of the rockfill dams as designed.

Estimating the amount of pressure acting on foundations and railroad bases.
