Gotvand divergence tunnels (three lanes)

Gotvand Dam site is also located on Karun river just at the downstream of the Majed Soleiman Dam in such a way that after the completion of this dam, the end of the lake would coincides with the toe of the Masjed Soleiman Dam.  This dam is also a huge structure with about 4.5 million cubic meters of water reservoir which is the 2nd biggest dam in Iran.  The dam is a rock fill  dam and has a huge spillway.  The operations of the diversion tunnels started at 1997 by Nimrokh company.  The divergence tunnels are three and in parallel but at different elevations.

The instrumentation of the all three tunnels was done by Payab Zamzam company and also the installation of them together with the trainings of the local engineers was done by this company.  The instrument results were used to monitor the safety of the tunnels during construction and upon the completion of these tunnels and starting of the lining operations, the removable instruments were safely removed and preserved for future jobs by the client.  Figure bellow shows an example of such a results.

The water was conveyed to the diversion tunnels in 2003 and the building of the dam body and the peripheral structures is started in this year.
